Job Overview

The Health Program Implementation Officer will lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of WHO-supported health programs in the Kissi region. This role focuses on maternal and child health, infectious disease control, and health promotion activities. The officer will collaborate with government agencies, NGOs, and community leaders to ensure program objectives are met, resources are efficiently utilized, and outcomes are measurable. This position is a key component of WHO’s commitment to improving health outcomes and achieving Sustainable Development Goal 3 in Sierra Leone.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed implementation plans for health programs, aligning with national health strategies and WHO guidelines.
  • Coordinate with Ministry of Health officials, local health facilities, and partner NGOs to ensure seamless program delivery.
  • Monitor program progress, collect data, and produce regular performance reports for stakeholders.
  • Facilitate community engagement activities, including health education sessions and stakeholder workshops.
  • Manage program budgets, procurement processes, and logistical arrangements for field activities.
  • Identify challenges and propose evidence‑based solutions to improve program effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with WHO standards, ethical guidelines, and local regulations.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Medicine, Nursing, or a related discipline is required. Advanced degrees or certifications in program management, epidemiology, or health systems strengthening are highly desirable.

Experience

Candidates should have 3‑5 years of experience managing health programs, preferably in low‑resource settings. Experience with maternal and child health, infectious disease control, or health promotion projects will be considered a strong asset.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary ranging from SSP 1,200,000 to SSP 1,800,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional allowances for field travel and accommodation may be provided.
