Job Overview

The Environmental Compliance Engineer will lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of environmental management systems for Baker Hughes’ projects in the Kailahun region. This role ensures that all activities comply with Sierra Leonean regulations and international best practices, safeguarding the environment and supporting the company’s sustainability goals. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive environmental compliance plans for all operational sites in Kailahun.
  • Conduct environmental impact assessments (EIAs) and ensure timely submission to regulatory authorities.
  • Monitor emissions, waste management, and water usage, providing regular reports to senior management.
  • Lead internal audits and external inspections, addressing non‑conformities promptly.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to project teams on environmental best practices.
  • Collaborate with local communities and NGOs to promote sustainable initiatives.
  • Stay updated on Sierra Leone environmental legislation and international standards such as ISO 14001.

Education

Experience

Applicants must have a minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in environmental compliance, preferably within the oil and gas sector. Experience conducting EIAs, managing waste streams, and leading audit processes in a multinational environment is essential.

Salary
