Job Overview
The Public Transportation Planner will design, evaluate, and implement strategic transportation initiatives that improve the movement of goods and people within Freetown and its metropolitan area. Key Responsibilities

- Collaborate with Freetown City Council, Ministry of Transport, and private transit operators to integrate multimodal solutions.
- Prepare feasibility studies, cost‑benefit analyses, and environmental impact assessments for proposed initiatives.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of implemented transportation projects, providing regular reports to senior management.
- Advise on policy recommendations to improve public transit infrastructure and support sustainable logistics.
- Coordinate pilot programs for electric buses, bike‑share schemes, and last‑mile delivery innovations.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, safety standards, and corporate sustainability policies.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in transportation planning tools such as ArcGIS, PTV Visum, or similar software.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Project management experience, including budgeting and timeline control.
- Knowledge of Sierra Leone’s transport regulations, urban development plans, and infrastructure challenges.
- Ability to work cross‑functionally with logistics, operations, and sustainability teams.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in Krio is an advantage.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Engineering, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field is required. Advanced certifications in transportation planning, GIS, or project management (e.g., PMP) are highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in transportation planning, urban mobility projects, or logistics optimization, preferably within a corporate or governmental setting. Salary
The compensation package ranges from 1,200,000 to 1,800,000 Sierra Leonean Leone (SSP) per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses and comprehensive benefits.
