Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Digital Forestry Specialist to join our team in Makeni, Sierra Leone. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing digital solutions to support our forestry and land use programs. This will involve working closely with our team of conservationists, scientists, and technical experts to design and implement digital tools and platforms that enhance our ability to monitor and manage forest ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement digital solutions to support forestry and land use programs
- Design and implement digital tools and platforms to enhance monitoring and management of forest ecosystems
- Collaborate with conservationists, scientists, and technical experts to develop and implement digital solutions
- Provide technical support and training to staff and partners on the use of digital tools and platforms
- Conduct research and analysis to identify opportunities for digital innovation and improvement
Required Skills:
- Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Computer Science, or related field
- 5-7 years of experience in digital forestry or a related field
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, R, or SQL
- Experience with geographic information systems (GIS) and remote sensing technologies
- Excellent communication and project management skills
