Job Overview

The Chief Data Privacy Officer (CDPO) will lead Google Sierra Leone’s privacy program, ensuring compliance with local regulations, international standards such as GDPR, and Google’s internal policies. Reporting directly to the Regional Legal Director, the CDPO will develop and implement privacy frameworks, conduct risk assessments, and serve as the primary point of contact for data subjects, regulators, and internal stakeholders. This role is critical for maintaining trust, supporting product innovation, and reinforcing Google’s reputation as a leader in ethical data handling. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve the data privacy governance framework for Google Sierra Leone.
  • Conduct privacy impact assessments (PIAs) for new products, services, and initiatives.
  • Monitor and interpret local data protection laws, ensuring ongoing compliance and advising senior leadership.
  • Lead incident response for data breaches, coordinating with security, legal, and communications teams.
  • Develop and deliver privacy training programs for employees at all levels.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with the Sierra Leone Data Protection Authority and other regulatory bodies.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and marketing teams to embed privacy by design principles.
  • Prepare and submit regular compliance reports to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Advise on cross‑border data transfers and contractual clauses with third‑party vendors.
  • Promote a culture of privacy awareness across the organization.

Required Skills

  • Deep knowledge of Sierra Leone’s Data Protection Act and international privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and risk‑assessment capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, able to influence senior leadership.
  • Proven experience in building and managing privacy programs at scale.
  • Ability to translate complex legal requirements into practical business processes.
  • Leadership qualities with a collaborative mindset.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is a plus.

Education

A Master’s degree in Law, Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field is required. Professional certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM, or CISSP are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in data privacy, compliance, or legal advisory roles, preferably within the technology sector. Experience working with multinational corporations and familiarity with cross‑border data flows are essential.

Salary

The competitive salary range for this role is SSP 2,500,000 – 3,500,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based incentives may be offered.
