Job Overview
The Network Security Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing security solutions that protect Airtel’s core network infrastructure. This includes firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS), VPNs, and security monitoring tools. The engineer will work closely with the Network Operations Center (NOC), IT, and compliance teams to ensure that security policies are enforced, incidents are responded to promptly, and continuous improvements are made to the security posture. The role also involves conducting risk assessments, vulnerability scans, and providing recommendations for remediation. Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and maintain next‑generation firewalls and IDS/IPS solutions across the carrier network.
- Monitor security alerts, investigate incidents, and coordinate response actions with the NOC and incident response teams.
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and risk analyses to identify potential threats.
- Develop and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with network engineers to integrate security controls into new network deployments and upgrades.
- Prepare detailed incident reports, root cause analyses, and recommendations for preventive measures.
- Stay updated on emerging security threats, trends, and technologies to continuously improve the security architecture.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of firewall platforms (e.g., Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, Cisco ASA).
- Experience with IDS/IPS tools such as Snort, Suricata, or Cisco Firepower.
- Proficiency in VPN technologies, SSL/TLS, and secure routing protocols.
- Familiarity with SIEM solutions (e.g., Splunk, QRadar) for log analysis and threat hunting.
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, and MPLS concepts.
- Excellent problem‑solving abilities and the capacity to work under pressure during security incidents.
- Effective communication skills for translating technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCNP Security, or Palo Alto Networks PCNSE are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.
Experience
The ideal candidate will have 3‑5 years of hands‑on experience securing large‑scale telecommunications networks, preferably within a carrier environment. Demonstrated experience with security incident response, vulnerability management, and compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST) is essential.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 2,500,000 to SSP 4,000,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based incentives, health insurance, and a retirement savings plan.
