Job Overview

The Aircraft Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the airworthiness of Boeing‑type aircraft operating in Sierra Leone and neighboring West African airspace. Working from the Yengema maintenance hub, the engineer will lead inspections, troubleshoot systems, perform repairs, and coordinate with flight operations to minimize downtime. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct scheduled and unscheduled inspections on airframes, engines, avionics and landing gear.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using advanced diagnostic tools and Boeing’s proprietary software.
• Perform repairs, component replacements, and system calibrations in compliance with FAA and Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority regulations.
• Document all maintenance actions in the aircraft’s logbooks and digital maintenance tracking system.
• Collaborate with pilots, ground crew and supply chain partners to ensure timely availability of spare parts.
• Lead a team of junior technicians, providing mentorship and on‑the‑job training.
• Participate in safety audits, root‑cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain compliance with Boeing’s Quality Management System and local regulatory standards.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of aircraft structures, powerplants, avionics and hydraulic systems.
• Proficiency with Boeing Maintenance Performance Toolbox (MPT) and other diagnostic platforms.
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills for coordinating with multicultural teams.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics and engineering drawings.
• Commitment to safety culture and regulatory compliance.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Relevant certifications such as FAA A&P license, EASA Part‑66, or equivalent are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of five years of hands‑on experience maintaining commercial jet aircraft, preferably Boeing models such as 737, 747, 767 or 777. Experience working in an African aviation environment is an advantage.

Salary

The annual compensation package ranges from SSP 1,200,000 to SSP 2,000,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and pension contributions.
