Job Overview
The Agricultural Finance Analyst will play a pivotal role in assessing, structuring, and managing financing solutions for agricultural enterprises across Sierra Leone. Reporting to the Head of Agricultural Finance, you will evaluate loan applications, conduct financial modeling, and provide advisory support to clients ranging from smallholder cooperatives to large agribusiness corporations. Key Responsibilities
- Analyze creditworthiness of agricultural borrowers using financial statements, cash flow projections, and market assessments.
- Develop tailored financing structures, including term loans, revolving credit facilities, and trade finance solutions.
- Conduct field visits to farms and agribusiness sites to verify collateral, assess operational practices, and understand market dynamics.
- Prepare detailed loan proposals and risk assessments for senior management approval.
- Monitor loan performance, identify early warning signs, and recommend remedial actions to mitigate risk.
- Collaborate with product specialists to design innovative financial products that address gaps in agricultural financing.
- Provide financial advisory services to clients, helping them improve budgeting, cash management, and investment planning.
- Stay informed on agricultural policies, commodity price trends, and climate-related risks affecting the sector.
- Contribute to the development of sector-specific credit policies and sustainability guidelines.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and quantitative abilities with proficiency in financial modeling.
- In-depth understanding of agricultural value chains, commodity markets, and rural financing challenges.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact effectively with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel; familiarity with banking software is a plus.
- Knowledge of risk management frameworks and regulatory compliance in the banking sector.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Agriculture, Agribusiness, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as CFA, CPA, or a recognized agricultural finance qualification will be considered an advantage.
Experience
Applicants should have 3-5 years of experience in agricultural finance, corporate banking, or a related field. Experience working with smallholder farmers, cooperatives, or agribusinesses in emerging markets is highly desirable.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 1,500,000 to SSP 2,200,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance-based bonuses and incentives are also part of the total rewards structure.
