Job Overview

The Construction Project Manager will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of large‑scale construction projects in the Makeni region. Reporting to the Regional Director, the role involves coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing budgets, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and cost estimates for construction initiatives in Makeni.
• Lead and supervise on‑site construction teams, subcontractors, and consultants to ensure adherence to design specifications and safety standards.
• Monitor project progress, prepare regular status reports, and communicate updates to senior management and stakeholders.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Ensure compliance with Sierra Leonean building codes, environmental regulations, and CCECC’s internal quality assurance procedures.
• Manage procurement processes, including tendering, contract negotiations, and material logistics.
• Facilitate effective communication among client representatives, government agencies, and community groups.
• Control project budgets, track expenditures, and approve invoices in line with financial controls.

Required Skills

• Strong leadership and team management abilities with a focus on collaborative problem solving.
• Excellent knowledge of construction methodologies, contract administration, and project control tools.
• Proficiency in project management software such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, in English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to changing project conditions.
• Solid understanding of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards in construction.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related discipline is required. Advanced certifications such as PMP, Prince2, or a Master’s degree in a relevant field are highly desirable and will be considered an asset during the selection process.

Experience

Applicants must possess a minimum of five years of proven experience managing complex construction projects, preferably in West Africa or similar emerging markets. Experience with large infrastructure projects, including roads, bridges, or public facilities, will be given priority.

Salary
