Job Overview

DHL Global Forwarding is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Trade Compliance Manager to join our Freetown operations. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive trade compliance policies and procedures aligned with Sierra Leonean regulations and international standards
  • Monitor changes in customs regulations, export control laws, and trade sanctions affecting freight forwarding operations
  • Conduct regular audits of import and export documentation to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance
  • Provide guidance and training to logistics teams on proper customs classification, valuation, and documentation requirements
  • Manage relationships with customs authorities, trade regulatory bodies, and relevant government agencies
  • Investigate and resolve compliance issues, implementing corrective actions as needed
  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports, license applications, and customs declarations
  • Coordinate with regional compliance teams to ensure consistent application of trade policies
  • Identify and mitigate trade compliance risks across all operational activities
  • Support business development initiatives by providing compliance expertise on new trade lanes and services

Required Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and export control requirements

Education

A Bachelor’s Degree in International Trade, Business Administration, Logistics Management, or a related field from a recognized institution is required. Advanced certifications in trade compliance, customs brokerage, or supply chain management are highly desirable and may be considered as a substitute for部分 experience requirements.

Experience

Candidates must possess a minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in trade compliance, customs brokerage, freight forwarding, or international logistics operations. Prior experience working with regulatory authorities in Sierra Leone or the West African region is strongly preferred.
