Job Overview
BRAC Sierra Leone is seeking an experienced and qualified Finance Manager – ECD to oversee accounting operations, financial planning, treasury management, donor reporting, and financial compliance for its country program operations in Sierra Leone.
The successful candidate will support strong financial controls, ensure compliance with organizational policies, and contribute to effective financial management within a leading international NGO environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Controls
- Supervise cash and bank transactions to maintain financial integrity
- Conduct field office visits to ensure compliance with finance procedures
- Manage and update fixed asset registers in SBI Cloud
- Participate in stock-taking and asset verification exercises
Ledger Analysis & Reconciliations
- Review and authorize accounting entries and ledger postings
- Reconcile subsidiary schedules, receivables, payables, and general ledger accounts
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
- Maintain accurate filing and documentation systems
Payment Processing
- Review invoices and payment vouchers for accuracy and compliance
- Maintain records for prepayments and accruals
- Prepare monthly payroll payments on time
- Ensure all payments are properly supported and documented
Financial Planning & Reporting
- Prepare monthly management accounts for review
- Coordinate budgeting and financial planning processes
- Prepare donor reports and project financial tracking tools
- Support compliance with financial reporting standards
Safeguarding Responsibilities
- Promote safeguarding culture and safe working practices
- Ensure staff and partners receive safeguarding training
- Report safeguarding incidents according to organizational policies
- Cooperate with safeguarding investigations when required
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in:
- Accounting
- Finance
- Business Administration
- or related field
- Professional certifications such as:
- ACCA
- CPA
- CMA
are preferred
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years of managerial experience in Finance and Accounting
- Experience working in national or international organizations preferred
- NGO sector experience is highly advantageous
Required Skills and Competencies
- Computerized accounting and financial systems knowledge
- Understanding of IFRS/IAS standards
- Knowledge of banking rules and financial procedures
- Ability to prepare financial statements and donor reports
- Strong analytical, reporting, and organizational skills
- Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
