Job Overview

The Network Operations Manager will lead the planning, implementation, and maintenance of MTN’s radio access network (RAN) and core transport systems in the Eastern Province, with a focus on Kailahun. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day‑to‑day network operations, monitoring performance metrics and ensuring compliance with service level agreements.
  • Lead network optimization initiatives to improve coverage, capacity, and quality of experience for customers.
  • Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules for radio and transport equipment.
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and vendor teams to plan and implement network upgrades and expansions.
  • Manage incident response, root‑cause analysis, and corrective actions for network outages.
  • Prepare regular performance reports and present insights to senior management.
  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards in all network activities.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and technicians within the network operations team.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of LTE, 5G, and core transport technologies.
  • Proficiency with network monitoring tools (e.g., NetAct, OSS, NMS).
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Effective project management and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to motivate multidisciplinary teams.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as Cisco CCNP, Nokia NRS, or equivalent are advantageous.

Experience

Minimum of five years of progressive experience in telecom network operations, with at least two years in a supervisory or managerial capacity. Experience managing large‑scale network projects in emerging markets is highly valued.
