Job Overview
The Renewable Energy Project Engineer will lead the design, implementation, and commissioning of solar and wind projects across Sierra Leone. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, manage stakeholder relationships, and ensure projects meet technical, financial, and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the full project lifecycle for solar and wind installations, from feasibility studies to handover.
- Develop detailed engineering designs, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Coordinate with procurement, construction, and operations teams to ensure timely delivery.
- Conduct site assessments, resource modeling, and performance simulations.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, environmental standards, and TotalEnergies policies.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and risk registers.
- Provide technical support during construction, testing, and commissioning phases.
- Prepare progress reports and present findings to senior management and stakeholders.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of solar PV and wind turbine technologies.
- Proficiency in engineering software such as PVSyst, HOMER, or similar tools.
- Excellent project management and stakeholder communication abilities.
- Analytical mindset with problem‑solving expertise.
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and multicultural environments.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is required. Advanced certifications in project management (PMP) or renewable energy (e.g., NABCEP) are highly desirable and will be considered an asset.
Experience
Applicants must have a minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in renewable energy project engineering, preferably within the African context. Experience with large‑scale solar farms or wind farms, including design, procurement, and commissioning, is essential.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 3,000,000 to SSP 5,000,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based incentives, health insurance, and pension contributions.
