Job Overview
The Sustainability Assurance Manager will lead EY’s sustainability assurance engagements for clients operating in Sierra Leone and the wider West African region. This role involves designing and executing assurance procedures that evaluate the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of ESG disclosures, sustainability reports, and related data. The manager will work closely with client senior leadership, internal audit teams, and EY’s global sustainability practice to ensure that assurance deliverables meet international standards such as GRI, SASB, and IFRS S1/S2. By providing independent, data‑driven insights, the manager will help clients enhance transparency, mitigate ESG risks, and strengthen stakeholder confidence.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan, lead, and execute sustainability assurance engagements for clients in mining, agriculture, energy, finance, and other sectors.
- Develop audit programs that align with global ESG frameworks (GRI, SASB, IFRS S1/S2) and local regulatory requirements.
- Assess the reliability of ESG data, carbon accounting, supply‑chain disclosures, and social impact metrics.
- Prepare comprehensive assurance reports, including findings, recommendations, and executive summaries for senior client stakeholders.
- Collaborate with EY’s global sustainability team to incorporate emerging standards and innovative assurance methodologies.
- Provide advisory insights to help clients improve ESG reporting processes and integrate sustainability into strategic decision‑making.
- Mentor and train junior assurance staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of Sierra Leone’s regulatory landscape, industry trends, and sustainability best practices.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical abilities with a focus on data integrity, risk assessment, and quantitative evaluation.
- In‑depth knowledge of ESG reporting standards, sustainability accounting, and assurance techniques.

Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or a related field is required. Professional certifications such as CPA, ACCA, ESG‑CPA, or equivalent are highly desirable. Advanced degrees (e.g., Master’s in Sustainability, MBA) are considered an asset.
Experience
At least five years of experience in sustainability assurance, ESG consulting, internal audit, or related assurance services is essential. Experience working with clients in the mining, agriculture, or energy sectors within Sierra Leone or the broader West African market will be advantageous.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 2,500,000 to SSP 4,000,000 per month, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and performance. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health benefits, and a comprehensive retirement plan.
