Job Overview

We are seeking a Sustainable Agriculture Specialist to join our team in Bo, Sierra Leone. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring sustainable agriculture projects that promote environmentally friendly practices, improve crop yields, and enhance food security.

The Sustainable Agriculture Specialist will work closely with farmers, community leaders, and other stakeholders to identify opportunities for sustainable agriculture development and provide technical assistance and training to farmers. The specialist will also be responsible for monitoring and evaluating project progress, identifying challenges, and developing strategies to overcome them.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and monitor sustainable agriculture projects that promote environmentally friendly practices, improve crop yields, and enhance food security.
  • Provide technical assistance and training to farmers on sustainable agriculture practices, including conservation agriculture, agroforestry, and integrated pest management.
  • Work closely with farmers, community leaders, and other stakeholders to identify opportunities for sustainable agriculture development and provide support and guidance.
  • Monitor and evaluate project progress, identify challenges, and develop strategies to overcome them.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local partners, including government agencies, NGOs, and private sector companies.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, agronomy, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in sustainable agriculture, agricultural development, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and monitoring sustainable agriculture projects.
  • Strong technical knowledge of sustainable agriculture practices, including conservation agriculture, agroforestry, and integrated pest management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with farmers, community leaders, and other stakeholders.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, agronomy, or a related field.

Experience

At least 5 years of experience in sustainable agriculture, agricultural development, or a related field.
